New Sheath

Mike had made this knife for me several months back and I had put aside waiting for the time to make a sheath that would go just right. The blade is somewhat unusual and I wanted a sheath that would compliment the blade and the bone handle but still be useful and easy to wear. Even after tracing out the blade I had to shave out the fillers because of the kris curve of the blade. The final fit was good and snug but it still has a keeper strap just to be sure.

I used 8oz veg tanned leather to allow the design to be carved deep to give good definition. I also only use a leather filler, and never use brads or rivets on my sheaths. Cheap sheaths that allow any metal to come in contact with the blade will make a good knife go bad! Metal against metal is a problem, even the post for the keeper is on a separate piece of leather.
